Welcome to the UFCW Local 496 Website

What kind of organization is this?

UFCW Local 496 is the oldest and largest Association of Barbers and Cosmetologists in Louisiana. Founded in 1903, it serves as a lobbying organization for our industry in the legislature and it has been at the forefront of education in our state for more than 100 years.

We are often asked; why should I be a member of this organization? The answer is simple. Often, we can offer a better variety of benefits at more affordable rates than you can receive outside of this union. We have spent over 20 years compliling a portfolio of benefits designed to fit the needs of our members, what we like to call "A One Stop Shop". We subscribe to the belief that our members deserve the best that we have to offer in professionalism, product suitability and onging customer service.

In addition to the insurance benefits and discount programs available to our members, we also sponsor the Louisiana Barber Apprenticeship Program.
